  1.    The RAR Archiver
  2.    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  3.    License for use and distribution
  4.    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  6.  
  7.       The RAR archiver is distributes as try-before-you-buy. This means:
  8.  
  9.    1. All copyrights to RAR are exclusively owned by the author
  10.       - Eugene Roshal.
  11.  
  12.    2. Anyone may use this software during a test period of 40
  13.       days. Following this test period of 40 days or less, if
  14.       you wish to continue to use RAR, you MUST register.
  15.  
  16.    3. There are 5 basic types of licenses issued for RAR, these are:
  17.  
  18.       a.  A single computer USAGE license.  The user purchases ONE license
  19.           to USE the RAR archiver on ONE computer.
  20.  
  21.       b.  A Multiple USAGE license.  The user purchases a number of USAGE 
  22.           licenses for use, by the purchaser, the purchaser's employees or 
  23.           accredited agents, on the same number of computers. 
  24.  
  25.           USAGE licenses are sold in units of 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250
  26.           500 or 1000.  For larger sales please contact your local 
  27.           registration site or RarSoft HQ.

  29.       c.  A SITE USAGE license.  The user purchases a single USAGE license, 
  30.           authorising the USE of RAR, by the purchaser, the purchaser's 
  31.           employees or acredited agents, on an unlimited number of computers 
  32.           at the same physical SITE location.  This SITE location would 
  33.           normally be defined as a single building, but could be considered 
  34.           to be a number of buildings within the same, general, geographical 
  35.           location, such as an industrial estate or small town.

  37.       d.  A CORPORATE, NATIONAL or INTERNATIONAL USAGE license.  The user 
  38.           purchases a single USAGE license, authorising the USE of RAR, by 
  39.           the purchaser, the purchaser's employees or acredited agents, on 
  40.           an unlimited number of computers, regardless of location, but 
  41.           owned or under the control of the purchaser.

  43.       e.  A CORPORATE, RESALE license.  The user purchases a license for 
  44.           a limited and specified number of copies for the purpose of 
  45.           reselling individual licenses to a third party with RAR being
  46.           included as a part of another application or system.  This license 
  47.           does NOT allow the direct reselling of RAR as a stand-alone 
  48.           product.

  50.       Once registered, the user is granted a non-exclusive license to use 
  51.       RAR on as many computers as defined by the licensing terms above 
  52.       according to the number of licenses purchased, for any legal purpose.  
  53.       The registered RAR software may not be rented or leased, but may be 
  54.       permanently transferred, in it's entirety, if the person receiving it 
  55.       agrees to the terms of this license.  If the software is an update, 
  56.       the transfer must include the update and all previous versions.

  58.    4. The RAR unregistered trial version, may be freely distributed,
  59.       with exceptions noted below, provided the distribution package is 
  60.       not modified. No person or company may charge a fee for the 
  61.       distribution of RAR without written permission from the copyright 
  62.       holder. The RAR unregistered trial version may not be bundled or 
  63.       distributed with any other package without written permission of 
  64.       the copyright holder.

  66.    5. To register you must complete the registration form and send
  67.       it, with registration fee, to one of the authorized
  68.       registration sites, see RAR_SITE.TXT.
  69.  
  70.    6. RAR ARCHIVER IS DISTRIBUTED "AS IS".  NO WARRANTY OF ANY
  71.       KIND IS EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED.  YOU USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
  72.       THE AUTHOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR DATA LOSS, DAMAGES, LOSS
  73.       OF PROFITS OR ANY OTHER KIND OF LOSS WHILE USING OR MISUSING
  74.       THIS SOFTWARE.

  76.    7. There are NO additional license fees, apart from the cost of 
  77.       registration, associated with the creation and distribution of RAR 
  78.       archives, volumes, self-extracting archives or self-extracting 
  79.       volumes.  Legally registered owners may use their copies of RAR to 
  80.       produce archives and self-extracting archives and to distribute 
  81.       those archives free of any additional RAR royalties.

  83.    8. You may not use, copy, emulate, clone, rent, lease, sell, modify,
  84.       decompile, disassemble, otherwise reverse engineer, or transfer the
  85.       licensed program, or any subset of the licensed program, except as 
  86.       provided for in this agreement.  Any such unauthorized use shall 
  87.       result in immediate and automatic termination of this license and
  88.       may result in criminal and/or civil prosecution.
  89.  
  90.       Neither RAR binary code, WinRAR binary code, UnRAR source or UnRAR
  91.       binary code may be used or reverse engineered to re-create the RAR
  92.       compression algorithm, which is proprietary, without written
  93.       permission of the author.
  94.  
  95.       RAR and WinRAR keyfiles may not be distributed, except as stated
  96.       in item 3) above, outside of the area of legal control of the 
  97.       person or persons who purchased the original license, without
  98.       written permission of the copyright holder.
  99.  
  100.       All rights not expressly granted here are reserved by Eugene Roshal.
  101.  
  102.    9. Installing and using RAR signifies acceptance of these terms
  103.       and conditions of the license.
  104.  
  105.   10. If you do not agree with the terms of this license you must remove
  106.       RAR files from your storage devices and cease to use the product.
  107.
